Sparse and repetitive drum machine creates a sense of surveillance rather than immersion, as if the listener is hearing the forest from a satellite feed rather than standing inside it. The final track, 'National Forest Ending' leaves the listener with an empty afterimage, an environment recorded, archived and quietly shutting itself off.
