Where the 1979 version reached for orchestras and studio excess, Fone2Fone reaches for a handset that's been dropped one too many times.
‘Tusk’ here is something blunt and worn, an object that's been well-used rather than cared for. The tracks were recorded on equipment that's (also) collapsing. No rumours. Ha, you didn't! Just a phone ringing in an empty building.
